Obsession du jour:

I saw it first on the Rachel Zoe Project, I saw it again while reviewing the Milan a/w 2010 shows (which I'll try to put up really soon) but I didn't absolutely fall head over heels for it until I saw it on the shoulders of Sienna Miller at the annual Met Gala.
I love the way its risque in the front but still uber glamourous. The plunging neckline and short hemline could have gone very wrong, but it ended up not looking sluty at all (I mean as long as your completely flat.) Even in these basic photographs you can see the beautiful embroidery and details in the dress making it more haut counture rather than RTW.
Seriously. I know I sound like a ten year old raving about pretty things, but just look at those layers! I want to get married in this dress.

Vanessa Traina for L'Officiel Paris September 2010

Flipping through L'Officiel Spetember 2010 and loving this spread on Vanessa Traina. She is an idol. I can kind of read this... but not really since inmy head it says today, my style is getting more anrogynous. I attak my clothes both Feminine and Masculine..."
But I'm working on it.
I love all the neutrals, especially with the pops of bright red in that last photo and the snakeskin throughout. Neutrals can be bland when they aren't styled with precise silhouettes, bold accessories, and luxurious fabrics but as is demonsrated here, with the proper stylings and confidence they can be amazing statement looks.

Dreaming of Paris

Dree Hemingway as a modern day Cinderella in ELLE France.

Vintage Ashley Olsen

I love her oversized cardigan. It looks like she is wearing a blanket. I also like how the Chanel bag she is carrying isn't over branded with giant doubled Cs. Like the monogram was just an afterthought to the classic patent slouch...

Alexa Chung for VOGUE China

I spot some Prada loafers. Although I'm much more of a fan of the Balenciaga ones, these just seem king of Plain in a retro way but just not cool enough.
Its sad Alexa's been slowly fading off the edge of her previous popularity. I miss her being everywhere with everyone. She single handedly brought back the fringe and just look how skinny she is. She deserves it.

Rachel Bilson Steps Out:

Rachel Bilson is one of my favorite style icons for that california laid back look. She always looks gorgeous and stylish but never like she tried hard to look that way. Example: Those sick booties tucked into cuffed skinny jeans and the messanger bag by her friend Phillip Lim. I think I need that bag. I mean really, studs and a bow? Who could resist... too bad its out of stock.

Drew Arriving at Letterman

I love the combination of the loose cuffed sequined top tucked into the satin tuxedo cinched pants with the classic YSL Tribune heels and Louis Vuitton earrings. Drew is a master of the high-low mix. Looking forward to seeing her new movie.

I haven't had a chance to read the article yet (its seriously taken me a week to read ONE Vogue magazine and the rest are piling up fast) but I love the shoot Drew did for Nylon's annual denim issue from the August cover. She just has one of those faced that looks good in any style of makeup- classy, natural, edgy, or rocker chic. Can't believe she is 35 years old. Here are some of the looks from the magazine:

They always seem to dress the cover girl in this outfit- classic downtown nylon style of leather shorts, a jean jacket over a t-shirt, an oversized plaid top and bold accessories.

Balenciaga A/W 2010-2011:

I am literally gaga for Balenciaga and to say anything bad about Balenciaga hurts my heart. I mean it is literally one of my top 5 favorite designer brands ever. So I'm glad Nicolas Ghesquière made me fall in love with the epic brand all over again. The collection was shown in a beautiful studio in Paris. Bright color combinations and textures stole the show to make the collection seem more spring/summer which is, to me, always more exciting than the Autumn/Winter collections. And what Karl Lagerfeld did to clogs, Nicolas Ghesquiere did to loafers. I mean I am dyeing for a pair of those color-blocked chunky heeled wedges. Their so sick. Classic and incredibly modern at the same time. Balenciaga actually already re-did loafers---> here .
Besides the amazing styling, the collection was still fabulous. Nicolas played with, and mastered, proportions with loads of choices for outerwear and fur. There was an outerspacey feel to the collection demonstarted in the coats with the metalic sheems, wing like backs, paddings, and new-age silhouettes. The shift like dresses are enough to make me want to shell out thousands of dollars for one. The way the bright colors are mixed with the black stipes and the short hemline works perfectly with the crewneck and long sleeves bringing the look into winter with the right fur vest, black tights and boots. Its such a modern statement piece but in no way is it over the top. I literally can't stop raving about it.
The only thing about the collection I didn't want were the pants and the baggy peplum tops. I mean they were incredibly unflattering silky old lady pants in bright prints, some of which were made to look like underwear was being worn over the pants.
Another dress which was crazy beautiful was had transparent nude colored slevees and high neckline for cold days when you don't want to look like your wearing your entire wardrobe to keep from getting frostbite. The dress comes with a black and white floral outline print with a few nude colored spaces set in. There were some preppy sweaters in storng hues with high necklines and embroidery which would be killer with a pair of leather pants and heels. The collection was so genius I actually teared up. I kind of am one of those crazy fashion ladies from another planet (me)
