Alexander McQueen, Rest in Peace

Today we lost one of the most talented designers of our time, if not ever: Alexander (lee) McQueen. He lived a short but incredibly successful life filed with fashion and hard times. He was 'discovered' by Isabel Blow in 1994 who choose to end her own life a few years ago and Alexander's own mother died very recently as well. The designer was found dead this morning in his London flat after he was said to have hung himself just a little earlier. Except for knowing his mothers death was really hard for him, there isn't any news on why he did it. I wonder if there was no note or if they just aren't releasing it.
I can't believe it. Maybe I was just being a 'drama queen' but I when I heard I was literally sick and something just dropped in my throat. I was so shocked and saddened by what happened. Someone who was THAT talented, someone who could create such beautiful things and were always daring (the huff shoes and phycadelic prints of his latest *last* collection), he knew how to make people feel special when wearing his designs. He worked with and dressed so many other talented individuals. One of whom, Anna Wontour, was seen running out mid-show (possibly fearing people would see her show EMOTION?) today after receiving the news. The designer was supposed to unveil his newest collection either today or very soon in New York. He poured his life into his work which brings up the question is fashion enough to live for?
He was a fashion legend, this is sure to have the same effect to the fashion world that Michael's death had about half a year ago. I can't understand why HE CHOOSE to end his life and why it had to happen but why-ever the reason I know he will be remembered for all the beyond amazing things he has accomplished during his time with us and his (ironically) larger than life personality and attitude.

What do others have to say about this?

ANNA WINTOUR:
"We are devastated to learn of the death of Alexander McQueen, one of the greatest talents of his generation. He brought a uniquely British sense of daring and aesthetic fearlessness to the global stage of fashion. In such a short career, Alexander McQueen's influence was astonishing—from street style to music culture and the world's museums. His passing marks an insurmountable loss."

SARAH JESSICA PARKER:
"I am shocked and overcome with grief upon learning about the untimely death of the quiet genius Alexander McQueen ... he was beloved. By all of them. He was talented well beyond his years and the seriousness and unrivaled talent which he applied to his work is in bountiful display year after year and collection after collection. Every single inspired, original, lofty, whimsical, stunning, brilliant and jaw dropping detail was Alexander Mcqueen. There has never been anyone like him. And there simply never will be[again]. What is more devastating is that despite all his success thus far, creatively, critically and commercially, his greatest achievements lay ahead of him. The future would be whatever he hoped to make of it. His independence, his skill, his quiet fortitude, his devotion, his love of his work, family and friends will be an unthinkable loss. And the vigilance with which he protected his work and those he loved was both incredibly powerful and quietly heart rending. In my brief but honored time spent with him I learned he would never let even the tiniest and seemingly inconsequential detail be unfinished. That's why his death is so haunting. God speed Lee. It has been a privilege for all of us to know you. You will be indescribably missed."

Naomi Campbell:
"I am truly devastated to lose my close friend. His talent had no boundaries and he was an inspiration to everyone who worked with him and knew him. This is a sad day to all who loved him around the world and my condolences are with his family. I will miss him so much, he will never be forgotten."

Karl Lagerfeld:
"I found his work very interesting and never banal. There was always some attraction to death, his designs were sometimes dehumanized. Who knows, perhaps after flirting with death too often, death attracts you."

Rachel Zoe(via Twitter):
"I cant describe the tragic loss of such a brilliant man and designer Alexander McQueen…
R.I.P. xo RZ"

I know he has touched us all in some way, and I hope some of you join me in wearing all black tomorrow. and I know its hard to focus right now but today is the start of fashion week and you all need to check out the online videos on mercedes benz fashion week website.
