Christian Dior A/W 2010

John Galliano for Dior's A/W 2010 collection followed then mood of the season in Paris - girly classics with a menswear-inspired feel. It reminded me a lot of- actually it was more of an undeniable resemblance, to the Hermes A/W collection.
Karlie Kloss opened the show gliding down the runway decked out in liquidy leather that was well tailored and clean cut yet seemed flowed naturally around her beautifully when she moved. There were lots of thigh-high boots which were okay but the real shop-stopping shoes were the ankle boots. These boots hinted towards the look of a riding boot with details like rows of little buckles , neutral colors, and cut up rubber soles. The outfits were clearly inspired by Equestrians from the 19th century with Galliano's modern takes on period outfits. There were quite a few androgynous pieces like fitted vests and tweed-wool blended pants, however each was balanced with elements of girly, special touches in the details like beautiful flowing chiffon, tiny ruffles, and sparkly appliques.
Most of the collection was in neutral colors- safe for winter, nothing too dramatic; Gorgeous all the same. My favorite fabric was the dark chocolate buttery leather fabric which was used on everything from pants to boots and jackets. John Galliano's vision was clear and well expressed through each and every look. Most pieces were timeless investments worth the high prices. Also resulting in some very dark yet pretty advertisements starring Karlie Kloss.
but to be fair, what ads aren't featuring Karlie right now?

I love the royal 19th century feel of this shoot. Its artistic without trying to hard, romantic but not girly, sexy but classy. This must have been amazing to style.
My favorite piece is the first dress. There is something so ornate about it, it came out of Alexander McQueen's (RIP) last collection for A/W 2010.
Those socks would be a great DIY

I love looks with little bits of lace sticking out at you in a piece.
I am a big fan of seeing very risky looks on the street, even wearing them.
With that said of course I don't mean the lace bodysuit. Its great on beautiful waif-like models in editorials but I may be tramatized it someone walked out of their apartment like that.
Unless they were Lady GaGa of course.
but anyway the point of me posting this was that (1) I love the fringe boots and (2) All black looks chic not goth. and people. when I wear a fur vest its really unneccisary to ask me if I killed my dog and made it into a vest.

Its no secret that I, like many people, am slightly obsessed with anything the olsens do - especially what they wear. Their outfits never cease to amaze me. They always dress in a smart looking mix of vintage pieces with current high-fashion pieces (usually shoes and bags). They may get trashed by the media a lot but they are truly icons. They never shy away from anything it seems, whether its those space-age Rodarte books MK has on or that lace maxi-dress Ashley is wearing above. It must be hard for them to have emerged out of their stereotypical child actor ranks into the fashion entrepreneurs that they are today but I believe that deserve all the credit they get as well as much more.

Minkpink lookbook summer 2010
i am obsessed with lookbooks. Since I don't have access to them I'm stuck stalking unknown designer lookbooks online. I hear one of the intern duties of an intern is filing away lookbooks which may sound boring to some but it sounds exciting to me.
